which neck contour?

I have the deluxe version of this epi and the neck contour is really comfortable to me.

Which W neck contour is the closest?

I've got an Epi LP with that same "slim" contour.

Standard thin is probably the closest, but the edges feel like they are rounded off a little differently.  :dontknow:

I've got a G-400 as well. I'm not really fond of the neck personally, but it's maybe a similar thickness to the standard, except the G-400 is flattened a little bit in the back. Maybe the wizard contour might be a little closer?

I'm glad that I got these answers. I was considering a roundback because lots of gibson style geetars got 'em. I would have hated to spend extra for a special contour that I don't even like.

I'm not fond of ultra skinny necks, so I think that all my W necks will be standard thins. Thanks guys.

I was about to recommend the '59 neck, even though it's not like the G-400's at all. I've got the '59 on my Warmoth Thinline and I absolutely love it. It's just thick enough without being too thick. Actually, I like the even thicker necks as well, but I find the '59 to be very comfortable.

the standard thin is REALLY thin, if you prefer thicker necks. It took me over a year to get adjusted to that neck, while it took me no time at all to get used to my fatback neck.

were you playing epi's before you got used to ur standard thins?

sorry to tell it this bluntly, I dont have any epiphones, only gibsons or warmoths. I was used to regular gibson necks. necks of epi's are kind of like gibson necks. but I've always prefered necks which are a bit fatter than usual. the fatter, the better. I'd put it this way; if you like an epi-neck, a regular epiphone neck, you'd think a standard thin is a wee bit too thin for your taste.

hmmm....

I'm not at all a fan of a "shredder" type profile... but I don't want to go too fat either, I don't know if I would hate it or not.

what about a standard thin with a 1 3/4 inch nut? How much of a difference would that make. My hands are kinda big but not huge. I've got stubby fingers.

Is there any of you guys in the bay area who would let me try ur standard thin, or ur fatback or ur '59 roundback contours before I go and buy my own neck?

Too bad you dont live here, otherwise you could've tried some of mine.

the wider neck will give you a more spacious feel, and thus make it feel a bit 'fatter' than usual iguess.

The Standard Thin is .800" to .850". (20.3mm to 21.6mm).  That is HARDLY "really thin".  It is a medium-thickness, and is fairly comfortable.

The "Wizard" necks by Warmoth and Ibanez are SUPER-thin (much too thin for my taste)...

I've been a "Wizard" user for 20+ years, now that I've got a Standard Thin, I'm finding it much more comfortable for my hand, and I'm going to go for a "59 Roundback" on my next build.

read what I wrote. its thin, if you're acustom to fatter necks. I only wish it was a BIT fatter from the 9th fret onwards.
