Where to source a small length of insulated wire

Low and behold I discovered a small portion of EMGs solderless setup doesn't include a solution for the 3 way switch (which, fortunately I own one).
I need to acquire about 1 foot of insulated wire for the four connection points to finish the electronics of my build.

I've found plenty of places to buy it in 50 to 100 feet or more.
Is there a brick & mortar store that would carry a smaller portion for sale, or a buy-it-by-the-foot sort?
I live in a metro area, so I would think this would be available somewhere.

On an unrelated note: I now understand why they make brass sleeves for split shaft pots for use with set screws. Fortunately there are two halves to work with when you bend/gently crush one side.

Go to Home Depot/Lowes/whatever hardware store chain and ask for a foot of 22AWG stranded copper wire in any color.
Should cost you a few cents.

My local hardware isn't very big, just a Do It Best.  I'm from the internet, so that's where I do most of my shopping.  Small items mandate I actually talk to a human  since shipping is rarely free on cheap items.

Next time put the set screw right at the split of the shaft so its going into the sides of both halves.

Right, that's what I do. But, some guys use knobs with pointers, gradations or numbers, so they want to put the knob on the shaft in a specific orientation.

This sounds like a stupid question, so I'm not going to embarrass myself with it's own topic:

Would I be right assuming that speaker wire wouldn't be suitable for wiring a guitar?
I'm basing this assumption solely on the basis that I've never heard of it being done.

It doesn't matter. 22AWG stranded copper wire is preferable. You don't have to use copper, but I prefer it. There is very little current in a guitar, and the skin effect does not come into play in this application, so you can use any gauge you want. Thinner wire is more delicate and harder to work with, thicker wire is more rigid.  Solid wire works, but is prone to break.

It'll work ok, but unless you're using old-school single coil pickups, you'll be sorry because your noise floor will rise considerably. If you're using noiseless pickups of any type, you need shielded cable throughout or you defeat the purpose of using those types of pickups. With the old single coils, it didn't matter because you're picking up a tremendous amount of noise anyway. Adding a few dB by using unshielded cable is a drop in the bucket.

I'll give it a shot.  Worst case scenario is it sounds crummy & I'll replace it.  I'm just using 4 short leads for the pup selector.
I don't think it's really integrated to the EMG wiring bus as part of the signal chain anyhow.  I could be wrong.
Thanks for the input.
