i want the SG to sound really close the the Gibson 68 Standard so which pickups should i put in it?

I want to say that basically any quality "PAF" type by any maker would work just fine for that.

All mahogany body/neck and Std. Thin neck profile; SD 59s, Seth Lovers or Pearly Gates

+1 on seth lovers, I've heard they are very close to the originals

On a Gibson SG, with thin body and fairly thin neck - both mahogany - you get a tone that is rather mids-light.  I dunno why, but they all seem to be midrange light.  Thats one reason P90's work so well.  Thats another reason for the 490/490 Gibson pickup set to work so well in them too.  SG's have been made with 57 Classics, but I personally think the tone is thin from them in an SG.  I love them in other guitars, Tele's, Thinlines...ES's... where you've got a bit more midrange from the guitar itself.  The same would hold true of Lover's.

So, the question is - how thick is the neck gonna be, and the body, and what kind of wood.

Bludging at work and came across this thread. I have an Phat Cat P90 for the neck (don't ask me why, I like the idea alright! And wondering what would be a well matched HB for the bridge. It won't need to be clean very often this one.

The guitar will be a BK SG, with Wenge/Pau Ferro neck which is currently "in process". Any thoughts locals?

I thought P-90's was the answer to all variants of  "What pickups for my * ?"  on this board.
