What kind of sealer?...

'Sorry to "beat a dead horse" here, guys.  Could someone tell me specifically what kind (type and brand) of clear sealer I should use (on an alder body) that I can spray a polyurethane transparent dark green color coat over?  I have seen nitrocellulose clear sealers on the market, but I am not sure how long they take to harden, or if they are compatible with a polyurethane color coat and final clear-coat...

Zinnser/Bullseye clear shellac or Sealcoat.

The Sealcoat product is a little thinner and is also sandable, but either would be acceptable.

Thanks for the suggestion.  Does it matter if the polyurethane color-coat  is water-based, oil-based, or solvent-based?...

No problem.

From the can, "SealCoat is guaranteed to be compatible over and under ALL clear finishes."

+1  I've used it on a recent project, and it worked very well.

Last question (I think):  Can the SealCoat be sprayed on, or is it brush-on?...

Your appreciation has been noted.

Yeah, well your first response was helpful, but then I ask another simple question and instead of either answering it or ignoring it, you tell me to "Google it".  Well hell, I guess we don't really need this forum at all, do we?  Anyone can just "Google" whatever they need to know about.  I am fully aware of how to "Google" something, but I THOUGHT this forum was for exchanging information about this stuff. So thanks, for your initial reply, and thanks for nothing on your last one...

It both sprays and brushes great. When I spray I cut it with Shellac Solvent from 30% to 50% and then spray it with my fluid down and air up high so it atomizes real good. I shoot 2 real light coats, sand lightly and then one full wet coat.

I’m not sure I would use it under your poly with out doing a test board first.  I know many clear finishes are self-sealing if you thin the first coats heavily.  I suggest that you check the recommendation of the finish product you are using to see what they suggest for a sealer.  If they suggest a shellac base sealer then the Seal Coat is perfect.  I hope you find that helpful.

Thank you!  I really appreciate it...
