I've got a spare pro neck birdseye maple/rosewood so thought I would get a flame maple/ash body,

what finish should I go for, my first thought is dark cherry tinted nitro so it looked a bit like the Gibson colour on the SG

but I'm open to suggestions as spraying is not my favourite thing to do, I much prefer rub on finishes

any other colours that appeal to people

thanks

Here's a thread where I did that finish on a Tele Thinline: http://www.unofficialwarmoth.com/index.php?topic=821.msg6359#msg6359

thanks, that tele looks superb,  the black grain filling really adds to it, I hope I can achieve something like that,

this is a body I've found on Warmoth's showcase which I quite like

what finish would  you use?
the way I see it it would have to be clear gloss nitro

A finish style I've seen and liked is a nice dye followed by dark grain filler.  Gives a nice stripey look.  I remember seeing one somebody here did with blue on an ash body that looked great.

+ 1 on clear gloss; you could dye/stain the mahogany back a darker color...

that's sorta what I had in mind  to make the back dark red covered with clear
