What do you guys thinks about "relics"?

I personally think the whole relic thing is, well, stupid.  Why pay to get a guitar that's beat to crap?  Besides - giging a lot does not mean your guitar has to get beat up. When my band was really happening, my main guitar at the time (a mid 80's Rickenbacker 620FG) got a major workout.  I played it so much I had to get it re-fretted 3 times.  However, it still looks (fairly) new because I took care of the thing.

Now with my warmoth Teles, I still get stilly on stage - playing behind my head, soloing while on my back with my feet in the air, jumping off the stage mid solo - but those warmoths don't have a scratch on them. And they never will as long as I can help it.

Actually I lie - the green one has a couple of scratches  :laughing7:

The closest I have ever bought to a relic is a "Demo." I actually think that a demo can be better than a perfect, new, just out of the box. Why? Simple. I don't have to stress over putting the first ding or scratch in the guitar, that's already been done for me.
