What am I doing wrong that when I listen to Jimh's stuff it sounds like the chipmunks?

Could be down to the way I compressed it.  I used Adobe Audition to 'downsample' the original recordings to make them smaller.  It may be conflicting with your sound card.  or the mp3 codec that is used on the forum server ??? 
It may make your sound card play them out fast.

If I recall I saved them as 32kbps, 24khz mono sampling.  Might be my bad.  Dunno what format .they should be to make them play out properly.

The originals are not that great in all honesty.  They are pretty cheesy.  We were young and foolish when we wrote them.  Great fun at the time, but a bit cringeworthy when I look/listen back to them now.  None of us could write decent lyrics.  Its not me singing by the way.
I dont have a website that I can post them on I'm afraid, and then link to.  If your'e really interested I'll send you the full fat mp3's of the originals.

I haven't had time play much original music for the last three years, but I've had a steady gig in the band for the Student Theatre here in Kalmar, Sweden (I was musical director for the last two semesters). It's exclusively covers, all of it, but at least I get to play lots of guitar and I've certainly improved immensely as a player.

It's hard to tell from the "inside" what influences can be heard in my playing, but I think I've picked up the most from Robert Fripp, Neil Young, The Edge, Nick Drake and Keith Jarrett.

I'm graduating (knock on wood) in a couple of weeks so I'll suddenly have oceans of free time when I start working compared to here at the university. It will be very interesting to see where I'll go musically - I'd like to play progressive rock, the odd cover, old school ska (no distortion, thank you), record my old original songs that are basically all acoustic singer-songerwriter stuff - and I really want to start looping seriously, especially live.

Though at the top of the list is Norwegian harpsichord wrestling - obviously.

So I play a lot of Silverchair, Pink Floyd, Bloodhound Gang, Offspring....

Every once in a while, I'll go crazy and try something harder like Devin Townsend or Megadeth, but then I come to my senses and wonder what I was thinking  :icon_scratch:

I play everything from AC/DC to ZZ Top, Ilike to play alot of acoustic stuff to, one of the hardest acoustic songs I ever learned to play was Dee, and the easiest was Is there anybody out there from Pink Floyd... :toothy12:
