what do i do for a middle pickup?

so i am getting a 3 humbucker soloist but do i need a special humbucker to fit a middle place?

I think it is usually another neck pickup.

If it were me I'd look for one with an output that's in between the bridge pickup and the neck pickup - not knowing if that's a good idea or not. Seems to make sense.
