Just want a sense for how much play there is in terms of what ends up on the board vs discarded. I assumed very little is trimmed, but they also can’t cut it too close.
Typically they are sorted by size, and ones that are big enough for bass and baritone necks are only offered on those models. The smaller ones are only offered on guitar necks.
In addition to the size of the board, how much gets discarded is also going to vary based on what specs you order. More will be discarded on a Gibson Scale conversion neck with a 1-5/8" nut width than on a 25-1/2" scale superwide.
If you are trying to gauge whether a certain area of the grain on a UC fretboard you are considering will actually make it onto your neck, or trying to figure out exactly where it will fall on the neck, we can't guarantee any of that. It gets laid out according to the best judgement of our neck crew.
