What about basses?

1) Warmoth can put any non-Fender headstock on their "short scale" (7/8) guitars, but what about their short scale bass necks?

2) Warmoth can move the bridge and pickup routs up on their full size bodies so they will work with the shorter necks, but what about basses?

An all Warmoth short scale EB/SG bass would be sweet!

i'd definitely give them a call. i can't say about the pickups, but i know there's normally a $45 upcharge for anything unusual having to do with headstocks. if you want something custom you'll have to get them a tracing or drawing, and if it's one of their standard options it might be free. i remember reading somewhere that they only offered the warhead headstock on 7/8 stuff for now, so it might still be an upcharge for a normal headstock shape if it's possible at all.

I think relocating the bridge and pickup routes on a full scale bass body would be a problem because I'm pretty sure the neck joint is narrower on the short scale basses. I completely agree that they need to make a short scale EB/SG body (with the LP headstock available on short scale necks), but I don't think it's an option yet. Maybe if you bug them enough they'll make it happen, though.  :toothy11:

Why would you paint the headstock black?

I would do an Ebony headstock veneer.

The plan was to put my name and a custom emblem (as decals) on the headstock and then spray another layer of clear over it.

I don't think this build is going to happen any time soon, but it's still fun to think about.

Yes, quite the bummer.  Besides the body scale and shape, there's a few more Warmoth don't dos on your list.  Headstock binding, trapezoid inlays (on a bass neck), and the Hipshot Gibson bridge.  If painting the headstock black, that's a ton of grain fill on Wenge.  The easiest solution would just have a veneer applied then paint that black.  I don't know if they do headstock veneers on raw/unfinshed exotics.

If you get them to budge on the headstock, you could always get a shortscale body blank and have it shaped to your liking.

Yeah, some things they may never do, and some things may just cost a bit more.

I've been keeping an eye on Warmoth ever since they anounced the short scales.

Guitarists will always get more options than bassists because they sell more guitar stuff, but I still have faith in Warmoth.

Right, it's one of the most popular short scale basses of all time, and they already make a long scale version of it. :dontknow:

What about Bass 6 options?  Can the Warmoth 3+3 headstock instead of the Warhead be used, or a Stoptail added instead of the Jaguar/Jazzmaster trem?

Sorry, don't have that info.  You'll need to call/email sales and have them track it down.  Doubtful on the 3+3 headstock.
