CHeck it out, gangstas:

Wenge on wenge, some very uniform straight grain, stainless steel 6115's, graphtech nut, and cream dots:

Wow! That sure is purdy. Excellent choice Ian. That thing will be an heirloom for sure. I really love the inspiration behind this bad boy. You sir should be proud.

Beautiful! I've always had it in my mind's eye that wenge was much coarser than that.

I gotta tell you, one of the nicest surprises about this neck is the fret ends - they are PERFECT.  I installed the neck on my Charvel strat just to get a feel for how the neck will play, and the stainless steel frets are slicker than butter.  The neck needs a truss rod adjustment, but I will deal with that when I put together the final build.  This is my first raw neck, and it's a novel experience, to be sure.  The open grain on the fingerboard is discernible, but not to the point of distraction - and once I get the action dialed in, I think I will work hard to improve my technique so I'm not mashing the strings against the fingerboard so much anyway.

In short: Woohoo!

Good for you!

I remember my first set of stainless frets. It was like "where have you been all my life?"

Just wonderful things.
