Wenge neck shenanigans

Hi!

I'm planning to build my self a Parts-bass from Warmoth, and have some questions regarding wenge. This is a 32" warhead neck, and since Warmoth only deliver them pre-drilled for Schaller tuners, I plan to buy it without tuner holes. The headstock is also a little unbalanced (imho), so I found some drawings on another forum with the shape I want. Nothing much, just making the edges on headstock a tad smaller.

I have a skilled luthier-friend who will help me with the woodwork, but I also heard that wenge is a wood that is 'hard' to work with. Does anyone have some useful tricks when it comes to working with this wood?

Thanks!

Wenge has a bit of a reputation for being hard and splintery, but approached with care and good sharp tools, I've found it works very nicely.

Short answer: It's hard, splinters easily, is extremely porous, and you need to pick the right glues.
