I'm thinking about committing to a splurge. There is a custom acoustic luthier here that offers classes. Total out of pocket over about 45+ weeks is roughly $4200 and you learn the craft and end up with a custom acoustic. Your build. Its roughly 45 weeks long at 3 hr sessions each week. That cost estimate includes 750 in material, training time and use of the tools.

I'd like to say yes. How do I approach this with my wife?

Plus, if you already have a bit of a woodshop in your garage, you could turn this into a profitable hobby/side business if so inclined.
( or at least pay down the cost of your existing workshop)...

BONUS: it keeps you out of trouble for three hours a week for almost a YEAR.
Sell her on what SHE gets ... a regular reprieve from Hubby hanging around the house - "personal time" for her to enjoy.
Plus, ya know that absence makes the hearts grow fonder...

All I know is that the last time I was single I discovered women loved the simplest song on an acoustic way more than ANYTHING I played on an electric. Once we become official I immediately abandon the acoustic and go 100% electric again.

Aka - pretending to be a normie/casual guitar player and hiding the true obsession until locking one in. If they only knew - the die hard acoustic guys are even worse than us when it comes to spending.
