Warmoth Tele headstocks are slightly thicker so.....

This got me wondering, before I order tuners I need to know they will fit. Never mind the diameter of the hole, which is already too small and I'll have to ream it out, but what about the headstock thickness. If I want to use Gotoh locking tuners will the extra few millimeters thickness in the headstock prevent them from installing correctly. From what I can see they shouldn't as there is a threaded bit that has some play. But I'm just not sure.

Thanks for any help.

I didn't have any problem with my GFS locking tuners on my Vintage Tele neck.

I have used Gotoh locking tuners, both the “threaded cap” and thumbwheel designs, on Warmoth Tele necks with no issues.

I’ve never heard of Warmoth necks being thicker.  :icon_scratch:
I’ve got Gotoh’s on all my five necks and I didn’t have to do any reaming or anything.

That's a new one on me, too. Can't think of a reason they would be, either.

I have used Gotoh (SG38, 510) tuners in my tele necks, no problems fitting. After thousands of necks Warmoth would know that and there would be a warning for incompatibility in their site. Every piece of hardware they sell fits their bodies & necks and they sell Gotoh tuners.

No worries ... I've used GOTOH, Planet Waves, Schaller and Hipshot tuners and NEVER had an issue.  (Hipshots are my current fave with the UMP plate --- no holes!)

Thicker than what ?
I have 4 Fender USA necks on hand and 3 Warmoth’s.  They are all within .002 of each other.

In fairness, Fender is often not compliant with its own standards in many cases, so a Warmoth headstock may very well be thicker than some Fender/Squier non-compliant part.
