thanks. it is a waterslide decal, nothing on top of it. I doubt I will bother putting anything on top of it.

and the "stratobastard," well it's not REALLY a stratocaster, more like a bastard child of Fender and Warmoth (Lace Sensor too I guess). So, there it is.

Thats great,

If that from the guy on ebay then i'm stoked as i just ordered something similar myelf.

+1 from me. Looks great.

I got this guy's contact info from the forum at reranch.com

email me (buckallred@gmail.com) if you would like his email address. I think he charged $21.50 and he gave me 4 decals! Guess I better build 3 more strat 'bastards.

Looks good but you will definatly want to put a clear coat on it. I did the same thing to a build I did and as practice put one of the waterslides on an older guitar and of course didn't coat it as I was just practicing on getting the decal on with no bubbles...well that was a year ago and it is now flaking. You may think you don't touch that area much but in the coarse of tuning and changing strings you touch it more then you think.

Dumb question: what type of finish do I put on it? Lacquer spray will work OK?

This is a Warmoth neck with gloss finish. The finish Warmoth uses is not lacquer.. .  so is it OK to spray lacquer over a non-lacquer finish?

i used deft lacquer and had zero issues

I ordered some of the materials that some of you suggested here (and in email), and I'm super excited at the results.  This is a bad cellphone pic of one, and yes, I realize it's not that exciting of a modification to the logo.  I just wanted to see how a finished product turned out before I spent the time to possibly re-create the "Fender" as a different word.  I don't know how I feel about all of that, since most of my guitars are Fenders that were Warmoth'd.  I've modified quite a few guitars from stock Fender strats/teles, and I sorta don't feel badly about fabricating the Fender decals.  I like the idea of giving them unique names with the Fender logo (this one is a Xenocaster).  I'm game for opinions if anyone has.

p.s. OMG not a Warmoth neck!
