To most of you these are extremely easy questions to answer, I don't play guitar or bass that much, but I want to order a 6 string Gecko bass for my brother (his birthday), and I just want to know if everything I have in the following list can be assembled into a fully functioning 6 string bass.

Custom Gecko 6 Neck (6bolt mounting holes)
Custom Gecko 6 Body(ASB6/P4, ASB6/P4 Pickup Rout, Gecko 4 Controls: V-V-T-T, Takeuchi TG6 String Thru Bridge, 6bolt mounting holes)
Takeuchi TG6 6 String Bass Bridge (String Thru)
Gotoh GB7 Bass Tuner, Left x3
Gotoh GB7 Bass Tuner, Right x3
Gecko Neck Washers x6
Neck Screw, Set of 2+2 for Contoured Heel x2
Bass String Ferrule x6
Standard Strap Buttons, Pair
Square Side Jack Plate
6-String Active Soapbar Set & 2(or 3) Band Tone Circuit (Duncan Pickups) http://www.warmoth.com/6-String-Active-Soapbar-Set-2-Band-Tone-Circuit-P1404C798.aspx   for the exact information.
Gecko Bass Case
D'Addario ProSteel Strings, 6 String Set

I'm worried about a few things though.
Will all 6 bolts to bolt the neck to the body come with the body/neck?
Do I have all the wiring I need to have someone put it together, and be able to sound through an amp?
Do I have enough screws to screw down all pickups, backplate, and such?

If there is anything I missed, or useless items ordered that wont fit with the body, please tell me.  :)

You know, your brother is lucky to have you in his life. Here is my advice, and I'm willing to bet that 99% of the people here will agree with me on this.

I know you're probably wanting to get all this stuff and either give it to him to build or take it somewhere and have it done and then present it to him. I'm sure he'd be happier than a pig in sh!t if either of these were to happen, but you know what I would do? I would add up everything you're looking at right now and get a total price. Then, I would go to my brother and say "Hey, I want to do something special for you for your birthday. Come on!" Then walk him over to the computer, sit down, pull up Warmoth's page and say "I have X amount of dollars for you to spend here. Pick out what you want and I'll pay for it."

The reason I say to do it like that is this. You admittedly don't play guitar or bass so you are just picking out things that look like they fit. Maybe he would prefer a different pickup configuration or different wood for the body, or different pickups. In my opinion, instead of buying him something and giving it to him, let him pick out what he wants. I know I'd be thrilled to the gills if my brother did something like that for me.

Also, if you decide to go this route, tell him when you both have time to sit down and work out the order. Don't let it be one of those things where you tell him something like "We'll do it next Saturday" or something like that. Hell, tell him on his birthday and sit down with him then.

Best of luck with this and let us know how it turns out.

I kinda agree with Mully on this. This is a custom bass after all.

Just the wrong neck contour or the wrong bridge route might ruin the whole thing. You're better off asking him what's his dream specs.

And don't forget the pictures :occasion14:

Well I certainly not going to have him put it together, I will have a professional in town do it. Plus that look on his face when he gets something so nice, I just want to surprise him.
I already know what wood he wants (his friends are tired of him complaining how he wants a nice 6 string with a Koa on Mahogany body, Wenge/Ebony neck) {I personally think he just complains about it because he wants one, he drew me to this site] "Oh I wish I have a bass like that" Quite annoying.
I pretty much know what he wants I'm just stuck on the little things, like does a gecko 6 body come with the bolts or is it seperate? and what type of screws to order. I will phone warmoth and annoy them till I have all my questions answered, but sadly they don't work on weekends  :-\

Hell, I've been researching this for almost a week now and I think I already know more about building a bass than he does!  :guitaristgif:

There's a ton of smaller things that you'll need to know. What shape does he want the neck? How wide or thick? What bridge, pickups, pickup locations, control scheme, tuners?

Exactly. From the standpoint of someone that doesn't play these little things mean nothing. That's why I suggested getting him involved in the build. Nothing would suck more than getting something that you really wanted, it wasn't exactly right, but you can't really complain about it because it was a gift from the heart. Did I ever tell you that my wife gave me an EVH Music Man for X-mas about 6 or 7 years ago? Yeah, she gave me one of my dream guitars...........and it's pink. WTF? Only the lowest slimeball loser would ever complain about something like that. There is no way I can tell her that I hate the color. I just have to grin and bear it. Sad thing is that that guitar hardly ever sees any stage time. The only times I use it on stage is when I'm feeling guilty for not using it for so long. How sad is that? Dude, get him involved in the build before you make a mistake. There's more to it than if the neck screws come with it. That should be the least of your worries.

Alright no worries all, I talked it over with him, thanks for the suggestion Mully, I'm 100% sure he'll be on here bragging about it on his birthday.
There is basically NO Gecko 6 pictures, so when it's built I will take as many pictures as I can, as for now, I have to stop my bro from freezing himself for 2 months.
He's walking around with a smirk but sooner or later the fact that it takes so long to build is going to seep in, it'll be halarious, almost gets rid of the fact it cost near 2 grand.

Why are you ordering the contoured heel screws?

The contoured heel screws are required for Gecko necks because some of the screw holes in the neck are under the heel scoop, which is thinner than the rest of the neck (with the fingerboard).  If you use regular length screws in the shallower locations, they'll go all the way through the heel scoop.  And that would be bad.  :(

To the original poster: I agree with the other recommendations.  Get your brother involved with the details, especially with the choice of pickups!
