what kind of body might that be?

I doubt he has had the neck off to look
and from what he says about the stop piece, he does not know much about custom made guitars.
But that is not his fault, before hanging out around here how much did you know? we seem to get a quick education around here, and at a price of 599. that does seem to be a deal on the guitar.

Not sure that body is Warmoth by looking at the stop tail piece location. Looks more like a copy body. Warmoth's location for the stop tail piece is further back on the body. Price is still not bad for the parts.

Glad to help.  :laughing7:

I've always known it, but this was the first time I thought it needed to be brought up. Another thing to consider is the location of the knobs. I'm not sure in comparison if Warmoth locates them in the exact same location as Gibson either.

Necks are shimmed all the time. No big deal.

W neck pockets are angled... at least for me, there was no need for shimming. although, I only have 2 W bodies with angled neck pockets.

Isn't it that way because of the 25.5" scale?

I think the seller provided pretty fair information, acknowledges s/he doesn't think the body is Warmoth, and is honest about the painted headstock being meh.  Nothing's particularly misrepresented and it looks nice enough, but I'd sooner try an Agile in that price point than a reclamation job (and ultimately neither).  It'd be nice to see the W brand on the neck and the inside of the control cavity to confirm the woods are solid and not ply, too.

No, Warmoth adjust their scale length on the neck, not the body. That's why Warmoth calls them conversion necks. You can build a Tele with a 24.75 scale neck, the same way you could build a Les Paul with a 25.5 scale neck.

Others have mentioned the W stoptail location before.  BTW, Warmoth is in the business of making copies, so to call this one a copy is redundant.  Is this copy a copy of a copy?  If so, it is not an original copy?  Always found that phrase funny, kind of like "live recording."

Yes. The LP bodies are set up to be 25.5 scale with a bolt on neck. Those 2 factors dictate bridge placement.

True, but what I don't like about it is that if you put a 24-3/4" scale conversion neck on it (to make it more like a traditional Les Paul), the bridge and tailpiece are in the wrong place as far as appearance goes. That is the only thing I dislike about the Warmoth LP. It just doesn't "look" right.

""I discovered when I received the guitar that the neck is indeed Warmoth but the body has no markings on it that I can see so I cannot say who it was actually made by
