What is the story behind the turtle?

What kind of guitar is he playing?

Who did the original logo rendering?

Is the "Warmoth" an actual font, or was it freehanded originally?

It's a photo of Ken Warmoth in the late '70s, in his "wild" years.

i think the little turtle is retarded looking, needless to say, i wont be affixing it to my headstock.

FWIW, the guitar looks like a strat to me.

The answer is somewhere on the second page of this topic:

Possibly very similar, but the font was custom for Warmoth.  What else would you expect for a custom shop??

i happen to like the turttle and think it is a good representation of how much time we but into guitars slow and steady after-all

I dunno, This ribbon has all the letters in Warmoth spread over a few words and they look exactly the same.

When it comes to fonts there's nothing new under the sun.  For instance, the Fender fonts are based on other fonts.  I think this has bee talked about before.
