Warmoth Knobs Don't Fit

I bought a set of Warmoth Deluxe witch hat knobs for my Tele Deluxe build that were advertised to be the correct Fender replacement knob and to fit a 1/4" (6.35 mm) shaft... https://www.warmoth.com/Deluxe-Knob-Black-P368C830.aspx

Went I went to try them on my CTS 1/4" solid shaft pots (the same ones that come on the reissue Tele Deluxe's) they weren't wide enough. I tried some original ones from a Tele Deluxe and they fit perfectly.

The Warmoth ones do have a brass insert that the Fender ones don't have and it looks like they may fit without the insert. Does anyone know if you can remove them?

I wonder if they are returns? That does look a lot like the brass bushings that are used to mount 1/4” knobs on split shaft pots. Can you run the set screw in far enough to see it protrude into the cavity?

Yep - those knobs are for split-shaft pots.  Not going to fit.
