Yes, I am looking for a broken telecaster neck, or one that somebody just wants to get rid of.  I am going to use it as a template to drill the mounting holes in my ebay tele body that I bought.  I figure that I can cut off the top about 1/4 below the fingerboard to expose the neck mounting holes then set that in the neck pocket.  Use those holes to mark where I need to drill on the body.

If anybody has one please let me know.  Let me know how much you want for it also.

Or if anybody knows a better way to drill the mounting holes?

Thanks!

Something I know alot of people do is just set the neck plate down and use that as a guide. You would have to see how it places exactly, but thats a good way to get all 4 holes.

I was thinking of buying a cheap neck off Ebay, but some of the pictures showed the neck holes not even close to being centered on the neck.  I found a Telecaster body template on the internet so I may make a template off that.

I now have 2 Tele bodies that I need to make neck mounting holes for.

I re-read this post and I think I know what you are saying.  I can do this if I get a neck without holes already drilled.  I'll just have to make sure I remember that when I order the neck.

What I did on a body I had that had no holes was to take 4 neck screws and cut off the heads. Then screw the screws into the holes in the neck heel with the points facing out just a tad. Then with the body on a flat surface, slide the neck into the pocket and press the screw points into the pocket. Then you have an exact transfer of the screw holes from the neck to the pocket. Then drill holes in neck pocket.... :icon_thumright:

I plan to do just this for my Agile Strat.  But I figure I'll use nails with the heads cut off...

Brilliant!

I think this is what I will do as all showcase necks already have holes in them.  There is one calling out to me right now
