Your first guess is correct... Macassar Ebony board with a Bubinga neck.

I missed buying that one by 1 day, and ended up getting the straighter-grained one right next to it, that I'm sure you carefully checked out! Looks great with that clear finish, and I'm sure the neck will be awesome too. Mine is getting an all-rosewood neck btw.
