V's and straplocks?

For those who have a V or V2, and who has straplocks, where did you put the straplock on the "neck side"?

I do not have one of these, but I have heard that the best place for strap placement for a v or v2 would be on the top neck bolt closest to the headstock.

I have a V, but I do not have strap locks, only buttons.  I just recently put them on and I placed them just like rockskate mentioned; on the upper right neck screw.  I have my other button on the center of the underside or crotch of the upper fin.  It balances really great at these positions.  Good luck!

I was a little scared that putting it on the neck bolt might cause the strap/straplock to interfere with my left hand, so mine is on the upper "shoulder", and the other on the underside of the upper fin as described above.  Seems to work fine and I'm happy with it...it is slightly neck-heavy, but not enough to make it dip when you take your hands off of it.

A screw and washer will do the same thing, and it doesn't look ridiculous if you don't go overboard with the size of the washer.

yes, but that fixes the strap to the guitar so that you cannot remove it without a screwdriver. The straplock locks but has a release button so that you can easily take the strap off.

Ooh, I like it. Where can I get those? I use Dunlop straplocks on all my basses but this should look nicer. Requires a brave heart though to drill out your body for that.

True. Forget I said anything.  :laughing7:

Get a rubber washer for 30 cents at the hardware store.  Put the strap on and stretch the washer over the strap button.  It won't fall off, it lies flush, it costs nothing, it's easy to remove, and doesn't require modifying the guitar.

A similar option is the red rubber grommets from Grolsch bottles (thanks to Hannaugh for that suggestion) but I think the red looks a bit goofy.  The hardware store sells the same thing in a dignified black.

I ordered a set of those from these guys....very quick service and nice people.  It wasn't hard to install at all, but it did make me nervous at first.  I REALLY like the look.  Super clean.

I just completed a V http://www.unofficialwarmoth.com/index.php?topic=11504.0 with Schaller strap locks and found the best place to mount them is 1/2" from the neck plate on the center line and the other  one is on the inside of the V 5" from the crotch.  The way I came to this though was by standing up with the V and experimenting with the strap in various positions until I found the exact angle for the neck that I would like as well as height....totally custom tailored.

I will send a photo when I get a chance. :party07:
