Volume knob acts like a tone knob why?

I wired up my new warmoth last night every thing sounds great and good to go but I only have a volume knob on this guitar and it acts like a tone knob. Why? When I roll down the "volume" it just sounds like a tone knob being turned.

Does the actual volume level of the signal go down?, or does it stay the same, but the highs get rolled off.

In some situations people can find that the tone does get a bit 'less bright' as they turn down the volume on the guitar, as well as the volume reducing.
This can be counteracted by adding a 'treble bleed' capacitor to the vol knob.

see here.....

What diagram did you use for wiring? To me, it just sounds like you put a capacitor on the volume pot, which would make it a tone knob.

Depends where you put it.  It would either turn it into a tone knob, or act as a treble bleed.

WarmothRules, you didnt mention what your pickup layout is.....
Do you have SSS on 5 way blade switch,HH on a 3 way toggle. etc.....

We could probably diagnose and help if you post a pic.

True.

Cap to ground, then. That should make it a tone knob, I believe.

Correctamundo.
The treble bleed cap should go across the input and output lugs of the pot I think

I have a suspicion that you have not grounded the third leg of your pot.  That would make it into a tone control.

However, a photo would go a long way to diagnose this issue.

+100

We can speculate, but a pic will let us cut right to the heart of the matter.

I did solder this to the pot but there might be a gap. I'll take a look at that.

I agree with mayfly, I don't think you grounded the other side of the volume pot.

to act as a volume, regardless of caps or whatever, you need to shunt your signal to ground

Yeah cool that worked. I had it soldered to it but just added a little more solder and it worked perfect.
