Vintage Tint

Hi,

I'm interested in getting an all flame maple neck (with a skunk stripe). I've been wondering if a vintage tint will bring out or enhance the figure of the wood, like a dye finish? Or, could it possibly hide/cover the figure of the wood? Or does it only add color?

Thanks,

Bob

Vintage tint is sprayed over the clear sealer, so it's just a yellowed version of what the neck would look like clear - it doesn't soak in like a dye on a lamtop.

In other words, it won't make the figure look better or worse, just more yellow. :)

I have a different opinion on this.  I've sprayed a lot of necks with vintage tint and found that a light coat does enhance Birdseye and flame.  If you use too much, then you've got a muting effect.
