Vintage style Tele neck pickup alignment

Any tips on aligning the neck pickup on a vintage style Tele? The one without screw holes in the pickguard to make sure it aligns with the pickguard that is installed after. Just center it up?

Nevermind, just realized I can use a spare Tele guard that does have screw holes to mark the spots.
