Your misunderstading me. It's a combination of all of the factors I mention that make it fell so out of date. As you concur, it's the price that's the kicker. The fact that I would have to pay to upgrade to it was an instant turn off. It's good, but it's not that good. Apple's attitude towards negative feedback is also a big problem for me. I was a Nokia user for ages, but the N97 went out with some severe design flaws. The biggest was that the Micro USB connection (used to charge the phone and data) would wiggle loose from the PCB with relative ease. Nokia denied it was a problem and as a result wiped £4bn off their brand value. Would be a shame to see Apple do the same, it doesn' t matter how strong the brand is, you can't disrespect your customers.
i could as easily say that all of the htc phones available under contract at launch day of the iphone in the us were out of date do to there lack of graphics processing ability and there battery hungry qualcom chips that were based on 65nm technology not 45nm.
i just disagree with the out of date thing. but it soon was over run by a number of phones. there are plenty of high end phones with only a 5mp camera, some take better pics than 8mp phones. there are plenty of smart phones with a 3.2mp camera. the processor was brand new and the graphics chip was up to date more or less. if you argued that the cdma version is out of date as a top of the line phone id agree, but overall as a smart phone it's not bad. there are plenty of smart phones that still dont compare. the iphone may not have redefined smartphones this time, but it had many new features that few others had on its launch day. it is still the highest pixel density on a phone, if im not mistaken it is still the highest resolution on a phone. and it is a big step up from past iphones that although had a nice display and new interface and many apps didn't do phone things very well like mms and shooting video and taking pictures.
i still dislike the iphone on personal preference in the ui and apple restriction that mean that you dont have a chose in the ui. no alternative keyboards ect. what's one to do if they have fat fingers?
