Veneers as an option

Because of cost and availability of some of these woods, Warmoth should real consider the utilization of the thin veneers as well as the 1/4 tops.  I suspect that many tops are chosen for the appearance  and not the tonal quality.  It can save both $$ and trees.

these can either be bound or unbound.

The flat lam tops are already only 1/8". Not a veneer, but I don't think the masked bindings would work well if they were any thinner. The facings of the DL laminates, for carved tops, are 1/16". I think only the thinlines get a 1/4" top.

All correct.

Is this a change?  My LPS (obviously an older guitar ) has full 1/4 inch.  Maybe because it is a carved to.

I just checked the site and I stand corrected.

Yup, carved tops are different. A lot has changed about how we do LamTops and Carved Tops since the LPS days, mostly driven by necessity. High quality wood is becoming scarce/expensive and we want to conserve it as much as possible, and continue to offer something at a decent price point.
