Vega and Hipshot trem rout questions

Hipshot's website says their contour trem is a drop-in replacement for Fender. So what's the separate hipshot rout? Is it (or can it be) recessed?

For Vega trem, I've seen a couple videos where it initially can't do pull-ups because the rear edge doesn't clear the top rear edge of the rout on certain Fenders and they had to shave some wood off. Does the Warmoth 6-hole Vintage and American Standard Fender routs accommodate Vega's VT1?

Never used these trems ... but have you obtained the measuremrnts from hipshot and vega ... that's where i start when it comes to bridges.

Yep I can confirm that the Vega does indeed work on a warmoth strat with the 6 hole route. BTW I ended up taking the vega off my guitar... want it?

I ended up going back to a traditional bridge and then decking and blocking it. I do too many country double bends for a fender style trem to work for me.

.... although interestingly Bigsby trems work just fine with the double bends. Must be some kind of mechanical leverage ratio thing at work...

In the For What It's Worth department, I have a SuperVee BladeRunner on a Strat clone that I've been very happy with. I pulled out my old American Standard the other day, slapped a W neck on it, and immediately despised the stock trem. I don't use trem heavily tho, just for adding a bit of flavor, so YMMV. Anyway, might be worth checking out if you haven't looked at em.

I was dismissive of Bladerunner because it's like Vega without the range but I just remembered I could [reluctantly] recess it myself. And then the advantage would be a more substantial block which in theory would help flutters.

I recessed a hipshot once. It'd be nice if Warmoth offered even a one-size-fits-most recess for old school style trems. The way you do it is angled down from the posts. I believe this is also more aesthetic than "semi recessed" schemes. trem recess diagram.jpg

I ended up with a BladeRunner because I could order it with a short block that would fit the Who-The-Eff-Knows-Where-It-Was-Made(tm) body I got from StewMac that was thinner than Fender standard, but I've really enjoyed it. The operation is so solid and smooth, and it keeps a Fender-ish aesthetic. I do have a TeleTrem on order from Vega though, and if @mayfly's is for 2 post, maybe I'll buy his and put it on my American Standard. I'd love to compare/contrast. I guess I probably need to get a HipShot too! :ROFLMAO:
