Unofficial Warmoth Phone App

So I've been thinking, someone should make an app for Unofficial Warmoth for the iPhone/Droid stores so we can get updates on the fly!

I think someone does have an app for some of the forum software sites like UW use. I agree, just because the Blackberry browser is stupid and my internet is so slow that I often use it with images turned off. Mostly my frustration is a combination of the slow speed and tiny screen size.

But my Blackberry went out of contract yesterday and I'll be dumping it shortly, never to return to RIM.

That was funny. I'll be booting it shortly, probably after Christmas settles down. I think I'll get one of those robot phones, the kind without a price on it's head.

That was absolutely hilarious! Reminds me quite a bit of the Monty Python bird skit http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=npjOSLCR2hE

TalkBass has a mobile app that I rather like. But that is a huge forum, and most members pay for their memberships, so it wasn't a big deal to develop the app. This forum, on the other hand, is very small (We have like 100 regular members?), and run by the gracious Warmoth employees who choose to keep it going. You don't want to ask too much of them. :blob7:

I'm happy with this forum on my iPhone, but loading images can be irritating sometimes.

The secret to such an app is that there's only a handful of fora software out there. It's not so much an Unofficial Warmoth app as it would be a BBB app, or whatever..

That's true. I'm just thinking that if they did make an app and charge for it, I'd would buy. Or even if one of the guys on the forum made an app that'd be great

I'm not sure what they could do. Graphic images are large files, even compressed, so if you aren't on a fat pipe, you're going to have trouble with them. That's the nature of mobile communications. It's not something Warmoth can alleviate through code or buying into a larger feed. They're already feeding pretty fast, as close as I can tell. I mean, I never wait on anything. So, it's up to you to buy into a better data plan or phone technology or learn to live with your bottlenecks. Whaddaya want? It's a phone. It's for emergency use, only as directed by your particular overlords.

android blows the iphone away, hands down... :icon_biggrin:

I'd make a slam at my old android phone, but it was old. My iPhone 4s beats it up and steals its lunch money now.

The iPhone 4S has faster download speeds, compared to the previous model. But it's still 3G, not 4G -- and for all practical purposes, in the U.S., it won't come close to matching the 4G LTE data speeds that can be achieved on other devices. And doesn't come close to being as fast as the android 2.3 Gingerbread platform...
