Two questions for the folks at Warmoth

All right, i'm thinking a lot about what type of guitar I want, and stuff.
I've come to the decision of a strat with the normal strat headstock. :toothy10:
I've got two questions though...
1) is it possible to get a distressed finish (black) by custom order, or are you guys too busy painting other projects? *note, it's going to be a while untill I eventually order*
2) would an all-ebony neck be possible if I ask very nicely? (and put up with enough money :laughing7:)

I don't know about "distressed" finishes, but they sell all-ebony necks all the time. In fact, this one...

is in the Showcase right now for the remarkably low price of only $409. It's not as dark as some I've seen in there, but you can custom order grain-streak-free ebony if you call. Or, just wait. More will show up over time, and one that appeals may be in the mix.

weird that I didn't notice... BUT, it may just be that I havr to call Warmoth about a custom ebony-neck... I haven't seen many scalloped necks  in the showcase yet...
Also, will it be too much to ask about a red finish showing through the black ginish, so that I have both a main color of black, some red by the edges of the chipped paint and THEN the wood showing through? I'm guessing that it would be expensive, though...(if it's possible :cool01:)

Many things are possible that don't show up on the site. The shopping site/order system is automated, so it can only deal with things that don't have exceptions. But, I've seen all sorts of different and unusual things get done by calling and talking to the order folks directly.

i asked about relic'd or distressed finishes a while back and they told me it was a no-go. i have a few sites that do have some very cool relic guitars.

THIS one being the main one http://www.mjtagedfinishes.com/

pretty nice guy, too.

yeah, i didn't expect them to say yes. but i'm not afraid to ask dumb questions either haha i think with relicing comes a whole new set of challenges. like when is a body really damaged? or would a customer be able to return something because it was relic'd too heavily? etc. can't blame them, but i bet if they wanted to distress some instruments they'd do an awesome job. the truly "custom" stuff i've seen them do has been awesome

I'm just wondering... Warmoth makes fretboards out of jet black ebony, would it be possible to have them make a neck out of JBE?

yes but no garentees.. sometimes a brown spot is revealed in the milling, they do pop up on the showcase so if you watch that for a while you may find one.
