Two different speakers in a combo?

I've used different speakers in combos and cabs all the time. I've been known to use 4 different speakers in a 4x12, not always with great results.  :icon_jokercolor:
Just be sure to choose carefully so your choices balance each other out. When it works, you usually end up with a more complex tone. When it doesn't work-mud city.

I haven't done it but I've heard that it can be good. If I ever get a 2x12 cab I'll probably go that route. like one of these:

it's got one Celestion Vintage 30 and one Celestion G12H30

I've done celestion V30 and a Celestion 'Greenback' in the past.  Sounded good.  V30 for mid punch, and the greenback for old style grit.  Decent mixture.

I've just got a pair of V30s in my Orange cab now though.

This may be stating the obvious, but if you're recording or playing live, you'd need to mic both speakers to capture your new complex tone.  If you're just jamming at home, then no worries, at all!

i use a fender super sonic combo with the celstion v30 and also use one of the deluxe extention cabnit (closed back) with celstion 12h or what ever. great tonal mix tight bottom end with the closed back nice and airy from the combo
