Tuning machine Buttons

Couple questions especially those who have changed buttons on either hipshot locking or Grover Rotomatic tuners
Do i need to order a round or oval hole?
I am assuming this must be where button mounts to peg as the screw that secures it is round
Please help a rookie

Hipshot tuner buttons have sort of a D-shaped hole in them, I would not order buttons for Hipshot that unless they're made by Hipshot or specifically say that they fit Hipshot. I've bought Hipshot buttons from https://sporthitech.com/ as well as their "Tone Ninja" buttons.

I'm not familiar with Grover buttons

Ditto on sporthitech. If you muck about their website you'll see what's compatible. They also respond well to emails, probably 48 hours. I've used tone ninjas on hipshot tuners. The great thing about swapping out the buttons for plastic or the industrial buttons is that you save a couple ounces at the end of your headstock, plus you get a sexier look.
