Hey guys, this weekend im going to put some tung oil on my warmoth strat, i im thinking of doing the neck too.

but how much of it should i do? do you guys stop at the nut? or do you cover the whole of the back of the headstock? or even the whole of the headstock??

Thanks
Tom

The type of finish, or the decision to finish at all, depends on the wood.
What is the fret board made of?
What is the back of the neck made of?

Ah sorry, i forgot to say,

Its an Alder Strat, with a maple neck and rosewood fretboard :)

Be aware tung oil is insufficient for warranty purposes.  You might want to look a Tru Oil instead.  All of the maple would need to be finished.  Rosewood does not require a finish.

Ah i live in the UK, it wouldnt be worth the hassle and shipping charges to send it back if something went wrong

Simple then ... Put the tru-oil on the maple, even on the headstock.  Put nothing on the rosewood.  And as big w said, if you use tung oil you're out of warranty.  Though some companies, like Carvin use Tung oil on the neck, so you takes your chances.  The alder body will take the tung oil, but it'll be a little boring, unless that's what you want?  I know some people like it.  Why not paint it?

I really like the look of the natural colour strat with a black pickguard  :glasses9:

thanks guys, should i just mask off the fretboard??

do you guys do the whole body in one go? or one side?
