Tuner Install Issue on Gecko

So I ordered a neck with 14mm GB7 holes predrilled and ordered some GB7s both from Warmoth. I'm finding that the "sleeve" portion that screws into the base of the tuner won't fit in the hole. It wasn't even snug. Now I spent about 5 minutes on this before heading off to work, but I'm wondering if I need to break out the mallet. Are Gecko necks super duper snug? Or should it slide in there? I've built a bunch of P and J basses using Warmoth necks and not had this issue before.

I would probably break out a caliper and verify whether the hole diameter was indeed drllled out to 14MM, and verify also that the tuner shafts are what you are expecting, before undertaking any brute-force solutions.  If you determine the discrepancy is minimal,  wrap some sandpaper around a pencil to widen the bores.  I would not force the issue out of fear I might split the wood, which would lead to much swearing and yelling, and we don't want any of that.  If it's more trouble than you are up to handling, engage a pro or call Warmoth to advise them of the discrepancy, or both.

Tuner holes are almost always going to be snug, especially if there's a finish on the neck. You can easily make a hole a little bigger. Making it smaller is where it gets tricky.
I'd throw some wax or other appropriate lube on those sleeves and gently sand and check frequently for fitment.
I put on BMLs on my neck earlier this year and only 1 of the 4 slid in, the other 3 took a bit of work. (I tested the inserts on different slots and it was on Schaller's end, not the neck tuner reams).

Thanks guys.
Waiting on the bees wax. Will try that first before I try sanding.
Lube first - good safety tip!
