What's with the 25/64" part of the Schaller and the 13/32" on the Gotoh?

Are the holes larger at one side than the other?

Yes. For some reason, the Schallers use a "stepped" hole. Not sure why, as they're retained using a hollow shoulder screw like many tuners do, as well as an anti-rotational or locator screw on the back. But, they want the facing hole a BCH smaller than the majority of the shaft diameter, so it's an unusual rout/drill. They're also tighter than dammit when you install them, which is probably a Good Thing, but it can be a little unnerving if you've never dealt with them before. You think you're going to wreck something getting the little rascals to seat properly, but it just needs the proper tool and they fit up nice.

Yes, they are larger at one side than the other.

Here's the specs on the Schaller Mini Locking tuners

Just a nit - that's not the Schaller  locking tuner sold here in the US (M2000 - has an angled screw tab)  nor does it look like the top locking tuner NOT sold here (75xx series - locks with a sleeve on the post rather than a pin/thumbscrew) . It's the non locking mini (5xx series).

Understood.

My thought were about the possibility of swapping Gotoh into a neck that was drilled for Schaller mini locking and if there would be a problem doing so, and how to fix that problem if it comes about.
