Hey Guys,

So i was playing my guitar this morning and I found a funny sound coming out of my amp.  I was doing my usual gained out rockstar songs and I noticed that the attack was good but there were some cracklies on the decay of my sound.  Fearing that I have ruined my life forever and not wanting to cause further damage to my amp, i stopped playing.  I don't have any experience with tubes.  I can fix guitars like crazy but amps... well...  Not so much.  Does this sound like tube failure or is there other stuff going on?  Thoughts anyone?  Just so we can be all be on the same page, this is my setup.

I plug my guitar (ibanez sca220)  into my amp (crate (pre loud industries garbage) bv150H).  Just to make sure I switched guitars and cables and... same story
:help:

sounds like you could be in the early stages of tube failure. No worries though, tubes wear out just like strings and need to be replaced from time to time. unless you are a skilled electrician DO NOT try and fix the amp yourself as it contains dangerous and possibly lethal voltages (even when unplugged). Just find a good amp tech in your area and make a new friend. Cheers,

You can have noisy tubes, or maybe just oxidation on the socket, controls or jacks.  This happens a lot in the winter - when heat/cool get some slight moisture build up.

Take the tubes out, and reinstall, one at a time.  Then try the amp again.  If it was just some smutz on the socket, your tone should shine like the seat on the Group W bench.
