i had enquired with musikraft about their truss rods. they told me that the rod on their single piece (single or dual acting) neck weighs 2 oz, while the rod on their double piece necks weigh 3.9 ok.
is this the same rod? or a different one based on single or double piece construction? and why weight should be different based on the construction? any idea?
The weight varies by construction type because the vintage style rod is a single rod with a square metal washer to anchor the end with the screwhead, and a separate immobile anchor at the other end, while the modern one has two rods that interact - the threaded rod is essentially used to curve or straighten the other rod by applying or releasing tension on the square rod.
