So my first modern style neck is scheduled to arrive tomorrow. When setting up the neck for the first time is there a pre attachment adjustment that I should make to the truss rod? One reason I prefer the vintage/modern style is that the truss rod adjustment is at the headstock so it is easy to tweak. I understand the current modern necks have a side adjustment for minor adjustments. But is there a pre set up adjustment that I should make that gets the neck in the zone so the side access can be used for minor adjustment? 1/4 turn, 1/2 turn? I'm just trying to avoid having to disassemble the neck from the body a couple of times until I get the neck close to how I like it.
I would have stayed with the vintage/modern style necks except I wanted a roasted maple shaft with an ebony fretboard so I ordered the modern build. Generally I like the neck to be as straight as possible so do I have to make any adjustments first or just attach it to the body?
