When it comes to live performances, how often do tribute bands surpass the original band they are covering? Seems possible if the tribute band is of an 80's hair band. But what about when they are covering one of the best bands of all time?
I just saw this band for the 5th time a few days ago. Thought they were pretty damn good the first time I saw them. Each successive time, they got better, until this last time. They got much better. I will go on record and say that Australian Pink Floyd is at least as good as the original Pink Floyd when it comes to live performance. Every note was spot on. It helps that they actually use some of the gear that Floyd used, and even use some of Floyd's road crew. Now they have 4 guys that can sing, plus the 3 backup singers. 2 guitar players that nail the Gilmour sound.
Here was the setlist. As one of the biggest Pink Floyd fans, I could not have picked a better setlist.
Shine On You Crazy Daimond
Welcome To The Machine
Arnold Layne
Coming Back To Life
Learning To Fly
Dogs
Sorrow
What Do You Want From Me
Wish You Were Here
Breathe/On The Run/Time/Breathe(reprise)
Great Gig In The Sky
Careful With That Axe, Eugene
Money
One Of These Days
Happiest Days Of Our Lives/Another Brick In The Wall Pt 2
Comfortably Numb
Run Like Hell
They played for over 2.5 hours!!! Careful with that Axe, Eugene was just amazing. My favorite of the show. Dogs was a close second. Never thought I would hear that one live.
Of course this post would be meaningless without videos I took from the concert. Some of the video is not the best. Anytime a light from the stage was pointing at my camera, I got one of those vertical lines you will see. If anybody has any suggestions for settings, please let me know. It is a Panasonic Lumix DMC-ZS7
