Tremolo springs vibrate & need P.G. material.

Hello everyone.

I'm a newbie here and had some questions maybe someone has answers for. I built a Warmoth Strat in the late 90s but I have two unfinished issues regarding the guitar. First is that the Floyd tremolo springs sound every time I hit a C and wondered if anybody else has experienced this phenomenon. Second I need to finally get the control cavity covered. My problem there is that Warmoth has a minimum that far exceeds the cost of the material. I'm going to probable start a new Warmoth project in the next year but for now I'd like to finally finish this one. Anyone have an idea where I can get some bulk material so I can cut my own out?

can't help with the cover... I never use one.

but I put some soft foam under the springs - takes care of the vibrations

I just stick Q-tips inside the springs.  :laughing7:    Its quick and dirty but it seriously works great.

Even a crushed up paper towel will work great, not as discreet though.

I don't know about Floyds, but with the stock 6-hole Strat tremolo, the springs are part of the unique sound.

Thanks everyone for all the tips,

I had some closed cell dark gray foam I shoved down the springs, kind of a combination of two ideas, that worked great. The qtips were rather loose. I think the PVC material on StewMacs site is gloss. I was hoping to find something that was flat or semi-flat black. Picky picky I know but I guess anyone who builds their own guitar would be.
