Tortise shell pickguard

Just got my tortise shell pickguard for my tele deluxe.  I have gotta tell you, I am very dissapointed with the quality of the pickguard material. looks like a decal of a tortise shell pickguard.  What is this all about. Anyone else have the same experience with a tortise shell pickguard?

I like mine, it seems to be made of the same stuff as any 'high end' guitar's tortoiseshell PG. Are you comparing your new one to something specific?

Hey, it's a mistake anyone could make.  I had a friend who didn't realize his acoustic's pg had a plastic cover on it until it started wearing through and peeling off.  :dontknow:

True, but there's also the fluroescent sticker on there about return conditions.  I would think when you go to peel off the fluroescent one, it would become obvious there's the clear one.

He hasn't replied, so that may have been it.

i'm looking for  a dark red kind of pickguard. the "red pearl" in warmoth seems to be too bright. there is a dark reddish one whose description is "tortoise white/black/white"! is this really dark red?

Nope it really is tortoise. Warmoth used to have a beautiful dark red pearl called "Copper Pearl" which sounds just what you're after. For some reason they discontinued it  :dontknow:

Yes, but it's also a pattern.  It resembles the shell of a tortoise.

It's like dark red, swirled with cream.

The trem plate is the late lamented copper pearl. the bass pickguard is Warmoth tortoise.
