Top routed Teles & pickguards

I would like to ask if a pickguard is necessary for the top routed teles. I saw this tele and I think that Warmoth drills holes in the pickup cavities for the wires. Is this correct? :icon_scratch:

No, it's not necessary... the holes to the wires is made under the top...

The only question is what do you mount the neck PU on because it normally goes onto the Scratchplate.

I think you can do that, the same like humbuckers.

There is another in the tele gallery here called "The Stubblecaster", I think, that is top routed with no pickguard.  Check it out!
