Tom Holmes PUs

Does anyone have 1st hand experience with Tom Holmes PAFs?

They're the most expensive humbuckers I've ever seen at $400.

I read good things about them, but I can't imagine any PU being worth that much or Tom Holmes knowing a secret to making a PU that Lolar, Fralin, Dimarzio etc doesn't know.

Hype and lack of availability has driven said prices into the stratosphere.

That's not to say they aren't the bee's knees, however.

I myself never went this route, but I've heard nothing but great things from reputable sources.

I've heard nothing but wonderful things about Tom Holmes PUs as well. However, I wonder if these people make themselves believe that they're the best since they just spend a fortune on them. A set of 2 calibrated humbuckers go for $800. That's crazy!!!

that is what I was thinking.... someone who just spend 800 on pickups will never admit that it wasn;t a good deal!

i have to admit, that does sound really nice. haha
but for 800 bux, i'll be buying another guitar. or upgrading my amp. or buying some more recording equipment. or modding my existing guitars. or well
anything other than buying 800 dollar pickups
