To stain or not to stain?

Non - guitar related...

So aaaaaages ago, a friend of mine gave me an old beaten up turntable, a Thorens TD150, as a refurb project.
I bought some Zebrawood so that I could rebuild the plinth, but never got a chance to get going.

Well, I've  had this week off work and came down to visit my folks and decided to start the refurb. My dad has some old wood working tools. Mitre jigs and the like. So I began building the plinth.

It's pretty much done, but I have a dilemma.
I intended to stain it red and then clear coat, however.....

I'd sanded the outsides of the box and used some spirits to clean off the dust and the wood looked beautiful when wet.  Obviously there is the figuring of the Zebrawood, but theres also a nice quilty flaminess to it too.

So.... To stain or not to stain. That is the question

(sorry for rubbish iPhone pic, dont have my good camera with me.)

That's some nice looking wood; I'd just rub in 6-8 coats of WATCO Danish Oil on that and call it done.
