Tiger eye - or- Blue dye

ok so i thought I would get everyones opinion on what finish for my next build.


V2 body  with quilt maple top and flame maple jackson neck.

and I kinda want to use white pickups

also throw out your choice for hardware color for each finish.

what looks good with what you know.

Blues make some of the most beautiful tops, so I'd say blue. But you can't go wrong with a tiger eye either.....Which ever is a win..... :icon_biggrin:

I am a big fan of both...but ifyou must use white Pickups...go with the blue.

Amen to the Blue Black burst.
I'd get the face of the headstock painted to match.
Chrome Hardware on this one I think. Black may look out of place on such a vibrant background.

The Tiger Eye would look wicked with black hardware

I have paid the extra and I feel unless you are spending 300+ for an AAAA piece it is not worth it.  I purchased a LPS with stock flame maple and it was FANTASTIC.  You do risk the look of the final product.  I gues it depends on how fussy you are.

I like tiger's eye much more than blue, so I'd do that. With white pickup rings and zebra pickups and chrome hardware. Yummie!

Well, these are not the "final" pics, since I am going to change the pups soon (if they ever arrive!) to zebra SDs, and the most recent pics don't have the Les Paul truss rod cover installed, but it is in playable condition now:

Unique Choice, I had to make sure it was the one I wanted since wild maple varies so much from piece to piece.

Although both are dyed, Blue Dyed tops and Blue Bursts (like Hannaugh's LP) are slightly different.  The Blue Burst dye seems to be lighter and the burstover is done with Trans. Blue, whereas the Blue Dyed tops appear to be a little darker, and the burstover if done, is done with black.
