Sir, that link just lead me down a 45-minute Alice-in-Wonderland drop into the internet rabbit hole, starting with Boz Burrell's Ampeg scroll bass, to King Crimson, to Pete Sinfield, re Ampeg scroll bass, then to fretless basses in general (my instrument for nearly 20 years), to a guy on youtube who created from parts a repro Jaco ’62 Jazz bass with Japanese P-bass neck reprofiled to ’62 J-bass specs with frets removed and fretboard expoxied like Jaco's by the latter's Florida-based luthier...
But: to come to BC – I was never a huge fan, having gotten a mega-overdose of their hits at various mid-70s era high school dances (performed by actual musicians), but always enjoyed Boz Burrell's bass playing and had kept ever since a mental image of his scroll bass which puzzled as it lingered. Would love to give one a whirl. Never learned "Can't Get Enough," but I'm sure I'd find something else to play on it.
You planning on checking out the 21st c. version of BC?
