Thick sounding single coil?

Ok I know it defeats the purpose but I just picked up a Highway one Strat with SSS pickups for dirt cheap.  I don't want to swap out the bridge for a humbucker I'd like to keep as traditional looking as possible.  I'd like to get a thicker warmer sound rather than bright and cutting, something that sounds more like a humbucker.  I'm guessing a hot rails or something along those lines would work best, but I don't really want the "rails" look either.  So is there any other options for something thicker and warmer sounding that looks like the traditional strat single coil?

Perhaps the SD Quarter Pounder pickups? For what its worth, I owned one of those highway 1 strats, and I thought their pickups SUCKED. Way brighter and thinner than single coils should be.

Just picked up a Dimarzio SDS-1 from Ebay!  Thanks for the suggestion, everything I've read on it sounds like it will fit the bill!

I'll try and get some clips up but the advice was spot on!  The pickup sounds much thicker and fuller but still has lots of highs.  I'd say it's a cross between a P90 and humbucker.  It's perfect, I can dial back some of the highs with the tone control and sounds nearly the same as a humbucker.  Or I can leave the highs on and it's a very unique sound, very full and a great lead tone that will cut through too!  Only downside is it's not hum cancelling so it's pretty loud but other than that no complaints, it's a great comprimise!

+1 on the SD 1/4 lb-er.  It's big & fat, hits hard if you have them closer to the strings.

I personally prefer their sound in a tele than a strat though, sling it up with heavy strings ala 11's at A440, fattest tele tone ever.

An SD Lil'  59 will work, better still a JBJr and add a single coil tap mini-switch to get yet another fatter bridge PU sound.

DiMarzio SDS 1 is a good choice.  I personally favour DiMarzio's FS1 (Fat Strat) for a thicker tone and yet still Strat sounding.
