Yeah, I'm pretty stoked. Been watching that piece for a couple of months now it seems. Can't believe no one snatched it up. Plus it's very similar to what I've wanted to do for a long time now. Ever since Carvin started offering their blackburst edge option and started putting it on darker exotics. A few years now at least...They've done similar guitars with claro walnut and koa.

EDIT: yeah, knew i should have googled that first. Yes, somehow, I've managed not to read any Tolkien stuff in my 37 years. Not really my thing (although I love to read) and never had to read it in school.

Man, I hope. I already have 5 or 6 other builds running through my head. There have been many strats I've wanted over the years...looks like I'll build a few of 'em if this one works out.

Funny you should mention that...seriously thinking all maple, vintage tint. At the very least temporarily. I can always throw it on a solid black body down the road if it doesn't work with this build. I dig that look. Had a G&L strat in the late 90's that was all black with vintage tint maple board and neck.

What I really like about this body? How the yellow in the bby burst mixes with the black korina and kinda looks like koa. Curious on how its going to look in person.

Yup. Having a tough time deciding between clear gloss and vintage tint gloss on maple/maple. There is one of each I'd like from the showcase...well, several actually.  :doh:

Nice neck but probably not going canary on this build.

Really don't know which way to go yet. I have six showcase necks on my watch list. A nice rosewood pro that just popped up, 2 all maple/clear gloss (one vintage modern, one pro), an all maple pro in vintage tint gloss and 2 koa pros (one darker red, one in typical "koa brown").

But what I really want, I'd have to build. Mahogany/ebony in gloss black.

I think an Ebony 'board over a gloss black [insert wood species here] neck would look great on that body. I'd probably use Maple rather than Mahogany, though. Less high end loss and greater sustain. Even better if you go slightly thicker, like a '59 roundback contour, but I don't know what you're used to. Also, keep in mind that the "Pro" construction necks with the dual-action truss rods are super-stable. You gain a little weight, but it's only ounces and it's worth it. And don't forget: stainless steel frets!

Yeah, I think that is the end game. Neck profile is another thing driving my crazy. I think I'd be fine with either standard thin or '59. I can go from an SG to an RG no problem so it shouldn't be a huge issue.  :laughing7:  But of course it is.

EDIT: SS frets for sure...unless it's something from the showcase with standard already installed.

If it's already fabbed up and they don't have to paint it or it's already painted, there's usually not a big delay. Figure a week to 10 days. Then, UPS needs about a month to get it to you. Apparently, they only run mule trains out of Pulloffyourwatchamacallit, WA. I've gotten stuff from Europe faster than from Warmoth.

Hunh, only take three days to get to me, and the notice that starts the fun usually comes in at about 4 in the afternoon.  I guess the Rockies cause delays for some.
