The Opal Strat

I tried not buying any more strats but I failed.... I just couldn't resist.   :dontknow: :blob7: Pushed the button on this little beauty...  :guitaristgif:

It's flame maple on Alder. The neck is a compound radius flame maple Warmoth pro with a rosewood fretboard, 6150 frets and a standard thin contour.

Very nice.

The quilt is beautiful, and I´m a sucker for blue clolour since I got my blue Tele.....I would put a B/W/B pickguard on there.

Neck is top shelf.

haha Cagey  :toothy11:  You wouldn't believe it but I'm an amateur telescope builder and astronomer - so you were pretty close there with the astronomy analogy.   :icon_smile: I think it's funny when the public come up on telescope open nights at our club, point up at the sky and say - what's that object near THAT triangle of stars. Of course any three stars (out of all the stars in the sky) make a triangle so which triangle is THAT triangle - we all laugh at that  :icon_smile:

The Beatles consulted me when they wrote Lucy in the sky with diamonds - obviously....  :icon_tongue:

On the build front. I've ordered the following bits.

Schaller locking tuners
Fender Standard Trem
A plain white perloid pickguard. I have a spare black pickguard if I don't think it looks ok when I try it out.
Fender Custom Shop 69 pickups.

I also picked up a cheap tuning hole reamer $20.00 from www.guitarpartsresource.com which was cheaper than I had seen anywhere else. Thanks for putting me onto that site Updown - it was good for most the bits I ordered for this build.

I'd have ordered most stuff from Warmoth but the problem we have here in Australia is that we need to keep the order from them under $1000 including freight which is about $115 for a body neck and trem - or else customs hit us with import duties and customs clearance charges. You could do two separate orders but I have heard instances of customs associating two orders as one - if you are unlucky enough to have the bits passing through them concurrently - from the same vendor.
