Got a pic or a story about the one you wished you could have back? Heres mine. A gorgeous Warmoth Alder body, 3.7 lbs.
Man, this thing sounded Killer, and was the best playing Strat I've ever had.
Somehow I got the idea it wasn't good enough cause it had a poly finish. So I sold the body. I really want my next Warmoth purchase to be an identical body to this one I had. I've still got the Warmoth neck. ;

Yip, sold my EBMM EVH sig a few years back. Wish I'd never had, but I made more than double my initial investment.... :sad1:

I thought you were gonna say ya deep sixed it because it only had one string tree......

Ha, very observiant! I go ahead and put two on all my guitars, even though some are  guitars string angles break better than others and i could get by with one, but two are  better . If your strings come out almost level off the nut to the tree, and you use super low action, and also slinky gauge strings, then  either you play like or a wuss, like  SRV ( high action on the nut and the neck/thick gauge strings), or you need a string tree(s), I dont care if Jesus cut your bone nut.

I used to own a 1959 Gibson Lap Steel.  Was Korina with the big chrome "gibson" logo.  Sounded very very fat... but I never got the hang of it and sold it.

I had an early PRS Custom24 10 top quilt with the one piece trem, transparent yellow, red back, MOP bird inlays that I sold to a friend of mine to fund the one I have now. Built long before the factory stuff. Wish I still had it. Over all not as nice as the one I have now, but it was one of the early ones that keep climbing in price.

Well if were talking all time, I walked into Don Weirs Music City in  San Francisco in 1981, at the age of 21 or 22, with my first guitar- a  mint 4 bolt '71 Fender Custom Color Blackie Startocaster with maple neck, and decided it would be a good idea to trade straight across for one of those cool new Fender Lead III's.
Value of the Strat today? 18- 26,000 ( just a guess). Value of the lead three? About 600-800.    :toothy11: :dontknow: :sad1:

forgot about my mid-70's fender jazz bass!  it was in good shape, all original, and had the pickup covers.

Nice bass, but it had the three bolt neck and it always shifted around - so I got rid of it.

Too bad - I kinda miss that one.

can't think of a guitar I REALLY want back, only of a guitar I feel crap about that I never bought it! It was a lovely warmoth flat top LP with schaller floyd, birdseye maple neck, ebony board, 24 frets, SS frets, 2 emg's, for 700$. too bad I didn't do it, cause I didn't know the brand!

Let's see,

Gibson Victory Bass
Gibson MIII with floyd
EBMM Van Halen (first run batch)
Peavey Wolfgang (Patent Pending version)

The Gibsons I couldn't give away.  Butchered them up in my early years and wound up throwing them in the dumpster.  :headbang1:

Amp wise
Old Fender Bassman
First run 5150 combo amp (this was a really sweet amp)

One that I sold that I now regret? A 69 Fender Tele. Bought it back in 80 used for $325. Sold it in 85 for $400 as I needed some quick money. Saw one at the guitar show early this year, almost a dead ringer for it. Price tag? $7500.

1986 Kramer Baretta Kline "Space" #24 of 62...first on the left...

Also a 1986 Kramer Stagemaster Custom "Non-Serial" in Dayglo Pink that I had to let go of in a time of financial need...

I'll have to dig for the pic. I had one of the original Washburn Dimbag Darrel Signature models that was signed by Dime himself.  The guitar itself played well but sounded like crap.  I got rid of it about 6 months before he died.

My dad is always talking about this Gibson Explorer II that he wished he never gotten rid of.  He said he bought it for $1300 back in the 70's and got $1500 trade in on it a couple of years later.  I don't think I've ever actually seen one.

The year was 1987. Was 26 years old, been playing guitar for 13 years. Had a 1965(?) Rickenbacker Model 1997 6 stringer, Fireglo finish. Thought I was going to give music up. Advertised in local classified paper. Got no responses. About a week later get a call at home asking if the guitar was still available. Caller said they'd been out in the country and couldn't ring up and see the guitar last week. OK, gave out address. Was still living at home with Mum back then, and there had been stories about robberies happening with similar circumstances. Got shotgun out and put on my bed just in case. Guy turns up, plays it and offers to pay for guitar and take it now. Offered to pay by cheque. Said he needed guitar for rehearsals in (yikes) Hordern Pavilion Sydney! What band did you say you were in? Oh, Midnight Oil. Yes I'll take your cheque!

Delivered guitar to Martin Rotsey the next day and I have to admit, he was the one of the nicest guys I have met in music (and not just because he bought my guitar). They had been filming the "Beds Are Burning" video in outback Australia, no phones. Saw the ad in the paper when he got back to Sydney and needed a 6 stringer with Toaster pickups. He had a 12 stringer 360 Ricky, but he hated taking the octave strings off when they wanted a jangly - but 6 string - guitar. I *think* the guitar I sold him could be heard on the song Hercules but I couldn't be sure. Later the guitar was onsold to a guitar store by Martin, and on sale by them for twice what I sold it for ( had an "Ex Midnight Oil guitar" tag on it).

Of course, I didn't give up music, and in 1992 bought a  spanking new Gibson Firebird V in white finish. Unfortunately, I had a financial crisis in 1998 and had to sell that to get the money for a tax debt. Sold it for much less than it was worth so I could get the money to pay Mr. Taxman on time.

I think I have photos of them somewhere, but to be honest with you, I know they are with other 'painful' photos I have and I don't really want to go trawling through my past history going over all the photos of those family members who have passed away or girlfriends I should have married etc.....

Gear and guitars are a journey - not a destination.

Sometimes you want to go back a second time - only to discover that things is not the way they were.

Cherish the good memories - and move on.
